African American musical demigod Isaac Hayes - the progenitor of 'Hot Buttered Soul' and the man who set Shaft to music - gained renewed popularity in the 1990s and 2000s, largely as a TV and film star (I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut). Musically, Hayes traditionally pulled as much from jazz as from other genres, and thus turns up in his element in this live set, performed and shot at the famous Montreux Jazz Festival in 2005.
