On the strength of "Grind with Me" and "Your Body," unapologetically sleazy brother act Pretty Ricky sold over 800,000 copies of their debut album, Bluestars. Follow-up Late Night Special ups the ante even more. They make forebears like Jodeci and Bell Biv DeVoe sound like pent-up prudes. Now that the members are a couple years older (they're no longer teenagers), their explicit flirtations don't seem quite as mismatched, and they also benefit from a set of songs that is stronger and more memorable ("On the Hotline" and "Leave It All to You" especially) than the debut. Producer Music Royale, who replaces Jim Jonsin, comes up with track after track of appealingly radio-ready backdrops, and the lyrical content isn't quite as one-dimensional. That said, lines like "Wanna drop it in your bucket," "I wanna put it in your stomach like some Robitussin," and "Make it firm like a bad perm" won't be winning any awards for chivalrous subtlety.

I love it , with every penny spent on it.
With the follow - up to Bluestars , Pretty Ricky , has truly stepped their game up . Late Night Special demonstrates their growth as artists and young men , and it`s evident in songs such as "So Confused," "Make It Like It Was," and "Stay." Still , like the sensual , tasteful young Jodecies they are , songs like "Up Down," "Love Like Honey," and the album`s title track, "Late Night Special," gives the album its sensuality at best. Singer Pleasure holds back nothing vocally, and neither do rappers Slick `Em, Spectacular and Baby Blue. Executive production by the group`s own, Diamond "Baby Blue" Smith, proves that the "Grind With Me" boys have always had all the potential in the world. It only took a couple months break, a couple experiences here and there, and a title such as 'Late Night Special' to accentuate the delivery of natural talent far beyond their years. A career defining album one would even say and an evolution from Blue Stars , to True Stars . .
