This is Sony's standard "first-party" memory card for the PlayStation 2. Memory cards store user settings and saved game information for console games. Standard PlayStation 2 memory cards store 8 Mb of information using the "Flash Memory" technology common in contemporary digital cameras and MP3 players. PlayStation 2 memory cards refer to storage capacity in terms of kilobytes and megabytes instead of the "blocks" of space associated with the original 128 Kb PlayStation memory cards. It is important to note that unlike some other accessories, memory cards are not interchangeable between the original PlayStation system (or the "PSOne") and the PlayStation 2. Only the original PlayStation memory cards can store information from original PlayStation games, regardless of whether these games are used in the original console or in the PlayStation 2. Settings and saved information from PlayStation 2 games can only be stored in a PlayStation 2 memory card. The system for which a game was released determines the type of memory card required to save information.
