Fans of the classic TV series Sanford & Son starring Red Foxx will be happy to see the first season on 2 DVDs in Sanford & Son: The First Season. Each of these 13 episodes are presented in 1.33:1 full frame and sport some inherent imperfections such as grain, dirt and a softness in the image. While the transfers may not be perfect, overall each episode features solid colors and well defined black levels. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono in English and appears to be clean, if somewhat bland. The range of each mix is focused only in the front speakers and sound flat and fairly dull. However, due to the age of the series this can be overlooked since each mix is generally clear of any hiss or major distortion. Also included on these discs are English and Spanish subtitles. Sadly, junkyard fans will be sorely disappointed to see not a single extra feature available on this set.
